The Education and Communities Committee has corporate responsibility for:
- Equalities
- School Estates Strategy
- Strategic Housing issues
- Community Safety/Anti-Social Behaviour
- Emergency Planning
The Committee also has responsibility for directorate planning, performance management reporting and financial monitoring for the following service areas:
- Schools
- Lifelong Learning and Education Support
- Support and Development (Education)
- Strategic Housing Function
- Management and Repair of Housing Stock
- Safer Communities
It is also responsible for overseeing the Council’s relationship with the following agencies and partnerships:
- Further education bodies, in particular, James Watt College of Further Education
- Strathclyde Joint Police Board
- Strathclyde Fire and Rescue
- River Clyde Homes
- Inverclyde Leisure
- Clyde Muirshiel Park Joint Committee
