I have worked in Active Schools since 2010 doing many different roles and in different local authorities. I have been in my current role and cluster since 2018. I am part of the working group for primary events and take the lead on netball which is my passion having coached since I was 18. I am lead coach at Clyde Netball Club which is the only registered netball club in Inverclyde. I also work alongside others in raising the profile of Active Schools through social media and local press, and part of a working group for our workforce, leading on our Primary Leadership programme.
I do my job to give children and young people the opportunity to experience sport and physical activity, in an enjoyable environment. I also strive to give as many children and young people the opportunity to take part in many of our leadership programmes. I was instrumental in setting up a partnership with Notre Dame High School to form a Netball Leadership Academy where pupils not only lead sessions in the schools, but also facilitate the primary netball events giving them keys skills to help them in the life beyond school, this project has been successful and now incorporates football leaders and opened up to all Inverclyde Secondary pupils.
