Statutory Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places 2023-24

In accordance with Schedule A1 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and Section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, Inverclyde Council is undertaking a review of UK Parliamentary polling districts and polling places within the Inverclyde County Constituency.

Details of the existing polling districts and polling places are shown on the “Polling Scheme” document which can be downloaded from the “Documents” section of this page.  These documents can also be viewed during normal office hours at the Council Offices, Municipal Buildings, Greenock.

Any elector in Inverclyde wishing to make representation should do so in writing to the Head of Legal, Democratic, Digital and Customer Services at the address shown in the contacts section or e-mailed to polling.scheme@inverclyde.gov.uk no later than Saturday 2 December 2023.  If commenting on the suitability of premises, details of alternative places that may be used as polling places should be given wherever possible.

Following the consultation period, a draft Polling Scheme will be submitted to the Council on 15 February 2024.  Thereafter a further period of public consultation will take place from 19 February to 18 March 2024, with the final version of the Scheme being submitted to the Council for consideration on 25 April 2024.

Please note that the Boundary Commission for Scotland began its 2023 Review of UK Parliament Constituencies in Scotland in January 2021 and the Final Recommendations were laid before the UK Parliament on 28 June 2023.  Once the Boundary Order has been made, the new boundaries would then take effect at the next General Election if called after the Order is made. 

For the purposes of the Statutory Review of the Polling Scheme, Inverclyde Council will only review the polling districts and polling places which already fall within the Inverclyde area.  The polling districts and polling places within Renfrewshire Wards 10 and 11 that fall within the proposed new boundary will be reviewed by Renfrewshire Council as part of their own Statutory Review.
