Description: This is a petition calling for further traffic calming measures to be undertaken to address the speed of traffic on the B7054. The main areas of concern are two pedestrian crossings/traffic lights , at the junction of Cornhaddock , Dunlop and Murdieston Streets and the crossing at Cornhaddock , Drumfrochar Road and Broomhill Street. Traffic travels at excessive speed throughout the day and on many occasions run the lights at RED in all directions but mainly going East or West. I have raised this with the Police but the problem does not seem to be improving. The Cowdenknowes Residents Association also highlighted the problem and traffic calming measures were put in place last year. This only covers 200m of Dunlop Street and has had very little impact on the overall problem. I also wrote to the Council through their web site. The reply I received from a Council officer indicated that there has only been one “REPORTED” accident in this area in the last three years. In my memo to the Council I explained that I thought the signage in the area was totally inadequate. The response said there was no plan for this to change but a review of the existing signs would be looked at as soon as possible.
