Payment system issues
There is an issue with the BACS payment system used by the council for collecting and administering payments and this may affect creditors, some service users, and Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates collections.
The system is provided by a third-party supplier and the council has been working with them to identify and resolve the issue and most payments/collections have been actioned today, Wednesday 6 November 2024, ie up to 48 hours later than intended.
The issue has had an impact on outgoing payments that were due to be made by the council to creditors and also a relatively small number of grants that were due to service users. These payments will now be made slightly later than usual.
The system issue also means that Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates direct debit payments that are due tomorrow, Thursday 7 November 2024, will be delayed 24 hours and are now scheduled to be taken on Friday 8 November 2024.
