More than 500 people attend Inverclyde jobs event
More than 500 people attended a jobs fair in Greenock Town Hall last week.
Inverclyde Jobs Fair was organised by the council, in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions and Skills Development Scotland.
Held in Greenock Town Hall, the fair had stalls from 30 employers looking to hire including City Gate Construction, AC Whyte, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, McGills, Ferguson Marine, River Clyde Homes, G4S, McGill’s Buses, Dales Marines, McDonald’s, Bute Island Foods and many more. Feedback from the employers was positive with many noting how busy the fair was throughout the event.
There were people on hand to offer support with people’s CVs and staff from Skills Development Scotland gave career and training advice.
Councillor Michael McCormick, Inverclyde Council’s convener of environment and regeneration, said: “I am delighted so many people came to the jobs fair and I am sure it will lead to many new opportunities for them.
“The aim of these jobs fairs is to give people an opportunity to find out about employment opportunities in the area and to meet directly with employers who are looking to hire.
“We know there are talented people out there who are looking for a new opportunity, or to develop their skills and these events are the ideal place to do that.
“Thank you to all our partners who worked with the council’s workforce development team to make it happen and to the employers who took the time to come along.”
The jobs fair ran from 10am to 1pm.
