Hundreds attend council buyer event
ALMOST 200 people from the world of business packed out an event in Greenock to find out how to secure work from Inverclyde Council.
The local authority in association with the Supplier Development Programme hosted a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event in the Beacon Arts Centre on Wednesday 8 February 2023 to give prospective suppliers the chance to find out more about the wide variety of services provided by the council, what work opportunities are on offer, and how to successfully bid for contracts.
Several businesses from Inverclyde and surrounding areas attended from a variety of sectors and they had the opportunity to engage directly with the council’s procurement team and different services that regularly procure for a range of supplies, services and works.
Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council’s vice-convener of regeneration, said: “A key priority for us as a council is supporting business and jobs and one of the ways we can do that is by ensuring traders and suppliers, particularly those that are based in the area, are prepared to do business with the council.
“It’s important we continue to foster good relations, particularly with our local suppliers, to help develop successful businesses and help residents develop successful careers.”
As well as providing a platform for suppliers to engage directly with the council, attendees were also offered access to key support agencies to help them become ‘tender ready’ to bid for contracts and work.
Further help and support is also available online from national agency Supplier Development Programme.
