Fireworks set to pop on return
INVERCLYDE’S annual fireworks display is set to pop when it returns next month following a three-year absence.
The extravaganza, which is free to attend, returns to the skies above Battery Park on Saturday 5 November 2022 for the first time since 2019.
The event had to be cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions and could not go ahead last year because of a lack of stewarding staff.
Now organisers Inverclyde Council are set to light the touchpaper for the big return.
This year’s display will be set to a score of contemporary pop music from the last year.
Provost Drew McKenzie said: “After the disappointment of missing out on the fireworks displays in each of the last two years it’s great to have them back.
“It’s a real highlight of the year for many families and a good opportunity for people to gather, wrap up warm and enjoy a spectacular display in a beautiful location at Battery Park.”
The fireworks will start at 7pm but there will be food stalls and entertainment, including fairground rides, from 5pm.
The Battery Park car park will be closed to the public and the area is expected to be busy, so people are advised to arrive in good time and use public transport where possible.
