New one-stop shop for parents of school pupils

A NEW platform has been launched providing a one-stop shop for parents of Inverclyde school pupils to do everything from check attendance to update contact details online.

The council has today (Monday 21 February 2022) launched Inverclyde Parents Portal, which aims to cut down on paper use and make it more convenient to access and amend information about children and young people.

The online system gives parents and carers access to schools records allowing them to view news and information from their child’s school, complete permission slips, update contact details and look at attendance information.

It will be rolled out in phases over the coming weeks and months starting with parents of pupils in the Clydeview cluster of schools from today.

These schools are: Clydeview Academy, Lomond View Academy, Ardgowan Primary, Gourock Primary, and Moorfoot Primary.

Parents can now sign up via the council website to access the resource.

Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council’s convener of education and communities, said: “This system will digitalise some of the administrative tasks that take place in school making it much easier for staff and parents alike to access and amend details and complete various other tasks.

“Parents will be notified by email of any new information and means the days of the school letter or note being lost will be a thing of the past.

“There are already great relationships between our schools and our parents but this handy new tool will improve communication even further between the school and home.”

The aim is to roll out Parents Portal to all schools in four phases by the end of May.

Parents will be notified when it is their turn to register and they will be required to verify their identity when signing up.

It is expected that more services will be added to the system as these are developed.
