The Council is responsible for the administration of a large number of licences and permits granted under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and other legislation.
A few examples of the types of licences / permits covered under this Act are, but not limited to:-
- Cinemas
- Fairgrounds
- Late Hours Catering
- Market Operators
- Metal Dealers
- Public Charitable Collections
- Public Entertainment
- Public Processions
- Raised Structures
- Safety of Sports Grounds
- Second Hand Dealers
- Street Traders (including food vans)
- Taxi Driver
- Taxi Vehicles and Private Hire Cars
- Taxi Booking Office
- Theatres
- Window Cleaners
Administration work in support of these is undertaken by the Licensing Section.
The Council maintains a register of applications for licences in accordance with the terms of Paragraph 14 of Schedule 1 to the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982. Any member of the public seeking to view the register can do so by contacting the Licensing Section on the contact details shown.
Any member of the public can make an objection or representation to a Civic Licensing application submitted to the Licensing Section.
