INVERCLYDE COUNCIL

 PUBLIC PROCESSIONS GRANTED JANUARY -  JULY 2024

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 3 March 2024 at 10am

 

ORGANISATION – The Boys’ Brigade – Inverclyde & District Battalion  

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – PORT GLASGOW

The procession will start at the Port Glasgow Health Centre car park and will

proceed along Fore St, Scarlow St, Shore St and Princes St to the New Parish

Church. On the return, the procession will form at Argyll Parade and proceed along

Shore St, Princes St, John Wood St, Bay St to Court Rd.

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 350  

 

REASON – Annual Founders Day Parade of the Boys Brigade

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 28 April 2024 at 2pm

ORGANISATION – SPRED

PROPOSED ROUTE – GREENOCK

The procession will start at the beginning of the Esplanade and

proceed the length of the Esplanade and on to  Battery Park.

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 50-60 

REASON – Sponsored walk and wheelchair push fundraiser

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 12 May 2024 at 10.20am

 

ORGANISATION – 2nd Gourock Boys Brigade and 4th Gourock Guides Company

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will start at Binnie St and proceed along John St, Shore St,

Pierhead, Kempock Pl, Bath St and up to St John’s Church.  On the return,

the procession will leave from Bath St and proceed along Kempock Pl, Pierhead,

Shore St, John St to Binnie St.  

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 80 

 

REASON – To attend the annual end of session Youth service at St John’s

Church , Bath Street , Gourock

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 1 June 2024 at 9.30am

(with return commencing at 3pm)

 

ORGANISATION – Greenock Murray Club Apprentice Boys of Derry

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GREENOCK

The procession will start at Terrace Rd and proceed along Regent St,

Sir Michael St, High St, Patrick St to Clarence St.  On the return the procession

will proceed along Broomhill St, Prospecthill St, Ann St, Dempster St, Bank St, Roxburgh St,

Regent St to Terrace Rd.

REASON – Annual Parade

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 22 June 2024 at 4pm

 

ORGANISATION – Gourock Defenders of the Faith LOL 345

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will start at Darroch Car Park and proceed along

Drumshantie Rd, Kirn Dr, Arran Rd, MacMillan Dr, Skye Crescent,

Iona Crescent, Queensway, Ailsa Rd, Divert Rd, Bute St, Arran Rd, Tower Dr

back to Drumshantie Rd and Darroch Car Park.

REASON – Annual Parade

 

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 29 June 2024 at 11.30am

ORGANISATION – County Grand Lodge of Ayrshire Renfrewshire & Argyll

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will start at Battery Park and proceed along Eldon St,

Cardwell Rd, Broomberry Dr, Barhill Rd, St John’s Rd, Shore St, Chapel St,

Cardwell Rd, Eldon St back to Battery Park. On the return, the procession will

exit Battery Park at approx. 2.30pm and proceed along Eldon St to the Esplanade

where the procession will terminate.  

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 2500-3500 

REASON – Annual Boyne Celebration Parade

 

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 29 June 2024 at 9.30am

ORGANISATION – Orange & Purple District Lodge No.39

PROPOSED ROUTE – GREENOCK

The procession will start at Terrace Rd and proceed along Regent St,

lay wreath at Wellpark, Sir Michael St, High St, West Stewart St, Patrick St

to Clarence St where the procession will terminate to board bus.   On the return,

the procession will continue on to Campbell St, Union St, Nelson St, Kilblain St,

Hastie St, West Shaw St, East Shaw St, Sir Michael St, Regent St and will

disperse at Terrace Rd.

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 100-120

REASON – Annual Parade

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 10 August 2024 at 8.30am

 

ORGANISATION – Royal Black District Chapter No. 2 Provincial Grand Black

Chapter of Scotland

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GREENOCK

The procession will begin at Broomhill St and will proceed along Prospecthill St,

Ann St, Dempster St, Bank St, Roxburgh St, Regent St before dispersal at Terrace Rd. 

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 60

 

REASON – Annual demonstration

 

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 18 August 2024 at 8.30am

 

ORGANISATION – Inverclyde Leisure

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The participants will start at Gourock Outdoor Pool and will proceed onto Albert Rd,

Ashton Rd and Cloch Rd  and will return along the same route to Gourock Outdoor Pool.

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 200

 

REASON – Triathlon and Aquathlon

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 8 September 2024 at 8.00am

 

ORGANISATION – Inverclyde Leisure

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – KILMACOLM

The procession will begin at Birkmyre Park and will proceed along

Pacemuir Road, Florence Drive, Knockbuckle Road, Netherwood Road

for the 3k event.  For the 10k event and half marathon, the procession will

turn into Netherwood Road, onto the N75 cycle path and continue along the

cycle path to the turning point where the procession will then return via the same

route back to Birkmyre Park. 

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 500-600.

 

REASON – Annual Kilmacolm Running Festival Event – 3K, 10K and Half-Marathon Race Events

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 6 October 2024 at 10am

 

ORGANISATION – 3rd Gourock Boys Brigade

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will begin at Binnie St at McCallum Crescent and proceed

along McCallum Crescent, Broomberry Dr, King St, Royal St to Old Gourock

and Ashton Parish Church.   The procession will return from Binnie St and proceed

along John St and Royal St before dispersal at Davidson Dr.

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 120.  

 

REASON – Start of Session Parade

 

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 6 October 2024 at 10.20am

 

ORGANISATION – 2nd Gourock Boys Brigade and 4th Gourock Guides Company

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will begin at Binnie St at the BT Building and will proceed

along John St, Shore Street, Pierhead,  Kempock Pl, Bath St to St Johns

Church.  On the return, the procession will proceed along Bath St, Kempock Pl,

Pierhead, Shore St, John St and back to Binnie St.

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 80.

 

REASON – to attend the annual end of session Youth service at St John’s

Church , Bath Street , Gourock

 

DATE AND TIME – Saturday 19 October 2024 at 2.45pm

 

ORGANISATION – Loyal Orange Lodge – District 19 

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – PORT GLASGOW

The procession will begin at Boglestone Ave and will proceed along Ardmore Rd,

Springhill Rd, Balfour St, Shore St, Princes St, John Wood St, Bay St, Fore St to the

Cenotaph.  The procession will return from Boglestone Community Centre and will

proceed along Dubbs Rd, Boglestone Ave for dispersal.

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 10 November 2024 at 10.15am

 

ORGANISATION – 3rd Gourock Boys Brigade

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK 

The procession will begin at Binnie St and proceed along McCallum

Crescent, Broomberry Dr, King St, Royal St to Old Gourock and Ashton

Parish Church.  The procession will return via Royal St to the War

Memorial, along John St and will disperse at Binnie St at the junction with

McCallum Crescent. 

 

NO. OF PERSONS – Approx 150

 

REASON – Remembrance Parade 

 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 10 November 2024 at 12pm

 

ORGANISATION – 85th Greenock & District Scout Group (Inverkip &

Wemyss Bay)

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – INVERKIP

The procession will begin at Inverkip Church Hall and will proceed along

Langhouse Rd, along the Main St through the village and crossing the A78

using the crossing point at the south exit from the village.  The procession

will then proceed along the footpath which runs alongside the Marina to the

war memorial at Inverkip beach.   The procession will return to Inverkip Church

Hall along the same route.

ORGANISATION – Skelmorlie 71st Ayrshire Scouts

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – WEMYSS BAY

The procession will begin at Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay Parish

Church and proceed along the A78 to the war memorial at Wemyss Bay

Ferry Terminal/Train Station

REASON – Remembrance Parade 

DATE AND TIME – Sunday 10 November 2024 at 10.20am

The procession will begin at Binnie St at the BT building and proceed

along John St, Shore St, Pierhead, Kempock Place, Bath Street and up

to St John’s Church.  On the return, the procession will proceed along Bath St,

Kempock Pl to Ashton War Memorial and then will proceed along lower Kempock St,

Pierhead, Shore St, John St, before dispersing at Binnie St.

PROPOSED ROUTE – PORT GLASGOW

The procession will begin at Port Glasgow Civic Square and proceed

along Princes St, John Wood St and Fore St to the Cenotaph.  On the return,

the procession will proceed along Fore St, Scarlow St and will disperse at Civic Square.

ORGANISATION – Inverclyde Council

 

PROPOSED ROUTE – GOUROCK

The procession will begin at Royal St and proceed along

John St, Royal St, Shore St, Kempock St to the Cenotaph. 

The procession will return along lower Kempock St, Shore St

and will end at John St.

The procession will begin at Shaw Pl and proceed along Trafalgar St,

Regent St, Wellpark to Cenotaph.  The procession will return along the same route.

The procession will begin at Birkmyre Park and will proceed

along Knockbuckle Rd, Lochwinnoch Rd, Port Glasgow Rd, Market Pl

to the Old Kirk.
