Prohibition of Consumption of Alcohol in Designated Places Byelaws 2010
THE INVERCLYDE COUNCIL (PROHIBITION OF CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR IN DESIGNATED PLACES) BYELAWS 2010
Notice is hereby given that the Scottish Ministers have confirmed the Inverclyde Council (Prohibition of Consumption of Alcoholic Liquor in Designated Places) Byelaws 2010 which the Council made on 7 October 2010 in terms of Sections 201, 202 and 203 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. These Byelaws supersede the Inverclyde Council (Prohibition of Consumption of Alcoholic Liquor in Designated Places) Byelaws 1997 and make it an offence for a person not only to consume alcohol in a designated place but also to be found in possession of an open container containing alcohol in a designated place in circumstances whereby it is reasonable to infer that that person intended to drink from it whilst in a designated place.
Any person contravening the Byelaws shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 2 on the standard scale.

The Byelaws as confirmed came into operation on 20 December 2010.
