Suicide Prevention & Crisis Support
If you or someone you are supporting are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, help is available both locally and nationally from the organisations listed below.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or risk please go to your local hospital emergency department or call 999.
NHS 24:
Urgent care and support for your mental health distress and if your GP, pharmacy or community mental health team is closed. Can be used during any time of the day or night for people who feel despair or suicidal.

Samaritans
The Samaritans offer someone to talk to for anyone of any age. You can call, email or online chat as well as visit your local Samaritan’s branch to speak to someone. The phone line is available 24 hours a day and is free to use. You can call on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org however replies by email may take several days.

Breathing Space
Breathing space offer a free, confidential phone service for anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 who is feeling low, anxious or depressed. They can be reached 7 days a week on 0800 83 85 87

Text service for people in mental health distress, trained volunteers are available 24/7.

Papyrus HOPELINE
Papyrus offer a 24/7 Hopeline for anyone having thoughts of suicide under the age of 35. The line is anonymous, confidential and free to call. Support is available via phone, text, email and webchat every day. There are resources, help and advice and parents guides available on the website.

Childline (Under 19s):
Childline is here to help anyone under 19 in the UK with any issue they’re going through. You can talk about anything. Whether it’s something big or small, our trained counsellors are here to support you. Childline is free, confidential and available any time, day or night. The Anchor Inverclyde (formerly Man On)
Suicide Prevention and Wellbeing Support (Adults - Referral Required) – Man On Inverclyde.
Service Times: Crisis Support Mondays 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Fridays 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Every service is free and located at 30 Nelson Street, Greenock. Please complete a Referral Form to access the Suicide Prevention and Wellbeing Support Services.
