Will I be able to see all relevant information if I make a request for information from the council?

We will always make as much information available as possible. However, there are certain circumstances where the Council is legally permitted to withhold information from you. For example, if giving the information would cause a breach of confidence to a third party; if it divulged personal information on an individual; or if the information was commercially sensitive.  Exemptions are detailed in the Act and additional guidance is available from the websire of the Scottish Information Commissioner.  If we propose to withhold information, we will tell you why.

You have the right to ask the Council to review it's decision about any information which is being withheld from you and this would be carried out by an independent officer within the Council.

If you are still dissatisfied, you can appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner.  The Commissioner can use her powers to ensure that information is provided.
