Guidance on attending a Cremation Service
Arriving for a Service at Greenock Crematorium by car
If you are attending a cremation service, we ask that you arrive at the Crematorium around 10 to 15 minutes before the service is due to commence.
Arriving Early
When mourners arrive 30 or 40 minutes early this causes traffic congestion and impacts on the traffic management for those trying to depart after a service. We ask that you show dignity and respect when you arrive as there may be a service taking place.
Leaving the Crematorium after a Service
Once a service is complete, we ask that all mourners make their way to their vehicles and show consideration to those arriving for the next service.
This will ease congestion within the car park and access roads.
Parking and Disabled Spaces
Greenock Crematorium has around 40 car parking spaces. There are 6 disabled parking spaces on the first lane of the car park close to the main building, these are for blue badge holders and are on a first come first served basis.
Please follow the parking instructions of Crematorium staff on site as they are there to assist you.
Numbers in attendance
Inverclyde Council does not have control of the number of mourners or the number of vehicles which arrive for a service at the Crematorium.
Service times
Services take place on the hour with 35 minutes allocated for each service. If a cortege arrives late this will impinge on the service time.
The time remaining following a service is to allow the Crematorium attendant to prepare for the next family to arrive.
Streaming
Live Streaming is available at the Crematorium.
The streaming will be for the duration of the 35 minutes service. Should the service take longer, the streaming may be unable to transmit the full service.
Funeral Directors and Funeral Arrangers
We have asked Funeral Directors and Funeral Arrangers to liaise with bereaved families and pass on the foregoing in order that the information can be relayed to family and friends who attend a service at Greenock Crematorium.
We thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.
