Book Of Remembrance

At a time of bereavement it is natural to quietly remember and express personal feeling. For this reason a Book Of Remembrance has been provided and is on view daily at the Crematorium in a display cabinet in the Remembrance room.

It provides an inexpensive and lasting form of memorial to those cremated at the Crematorium or whose cremated remains lie in the Garden of Remembrance. There are 3 volumes, one for each third of the year (January to April, May to September and October to December). A page is provided for each day in order that inscriptions may be viewed on the appropriate anniversary.

Because of the layout of the Book, inscriptions of up to 2, 5 or 8 lines only are allowed. It is possible to request that lines are left blank for additional inscription at a later date. This must be clearly indicated on your application and the charge for the full number of lines must be paid. Try to restrict the number of letters in the name to 24 and in the following lines to 32. If you have difficulties, contact the Crematorium office for advice. Illustrations are not possible.

The Digital Kiosk within the Book of Remembrance room

Each time the Book has new inscriptions added to it by the inscribers these are then digitally photographed and added to the database on this kiosk. This enables you to view your memorial entry at any time the book room is open and not just on the anniversary date.

Using the kiosk is very simple and works by using touchscreen technology whilst following the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, follow the link to view the digitised Book of Remembrance and follow the on-screen instructions.
