In Scotland the responsibility for regulating the various aspects of pollution control are divided between Local Authorities and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
Local Authority services such as Inverclyde Council’s Environmental and Public Protection Service have a duty to monitor and control pollution issues such as local air quality and contaminated land.
SEPA regulates potential pollution from industry of natural waters and the air and the storage, transportation and disposal of controlled waste and the keeping of radioactive materials.
