Instrumental Tuition

Music 109

Tuition is provided via schools, by visiting instructors, as part of the Instrumental Music Service (IMS).

Instrument tuition begins at different times depending on the instrument your child wants to play.

  • Violin from P4
  • Bagpipes and Cello from P5
  • Wind, brass and vocal from P6
  • Guitar and percussion from S1

Whether or not your child is able to take an instrument will depend on the pupil's ability (as determined by the instructor), the number of places available and whether or not the child’s chosen instrument is available in their school.

All pupils will receive a minimum of 25 -30 lessons per school year, delivered over three blocks. Pupils who reach the appropriate standard will be encouraged to participate in school ensembles, bands, choirs and performances.
