Inverclyde Council organised an election for the establishment of a Port Glasgow West Community Council, following a written request that they do so from the required number people on the electoral roll and living in the community council area.
The period for submission of nominations in this election closed at 4pm on the 8th February 2017, and 9 valid nominations were received.
As the number of validly nominated candidates is not more than the maximum number of members of the community council, a ballot is not required, and they have al been elected as members of Port Glasgow West Community Council.

The first public meeting of the re-established Port Glasgow West Community Council was held on 15 February 2017.
