Services for 5 and under
What does Inverclyde Libraries have for 0-5 year olds?
From books to Bookbug, author events to Crafternoons we have lots to offer our youngest library members and their families.
Libraries Welcome Families
You’re never too young to get a library card. We want every child to be a library member so you can sign your child up for membership from birth!
Come along with your child to find out how the library works.
Lots of Books
All libraries have an excellent selection of board and picture books which have been specially selected for 0-5 year olds.
You can borrow 20 books at a time at no cost and we do not charge children for overdue books if you keep them a little bit longer!
Reading books with your child is a great way to bond and build attachment, boost vocabulary and develop emotional wellbeing. Plus, it’s good fun!
eBooks and eAudioBooks with BorrowBox
If you’re heading off on a family road trip or at home reading with the children you can access eBooks and eAudioBooks from our BorrowBox service. New titles are added regularly which you can download and enjoy using your device. Please see the BorrowBox page for more information.
Play Together
We have a good variety of toys in all libraries from toy kitchens to colouring-in. Pop in to play and pick some books.
Digital services
Some of our libraries have ipads with age-appropriate apps for children to access during library visits.
Bookbug Sessions

Events
We regularly run events to support national programmes such as Book Week Scotland and World Book Day. Look out for upcoming events on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.
We run a programme of Crafternoons during school holidays. These sessions are perfect for primary school age children however with parental support Crafternoons can be suitable for younger ages too as a variety of crafts and colouring-in activities are available. Please be aware that some craft activities have very small pieces and supervision at all times is recommended.
