Every Child a Library Member - ECALM
We’d be delighted to give your child their first library card, it’s never too early to enjoy access to all the free resources on offer from your public library. You can register your child online using the form from the `Join the Library` page linked. Once you have signed up online your child will have access to our online library of eBooks, eAudioBooks, eMagazines and Comics. When you first visit the library you can collect your library card, enjoy book borrowing and meet our friendly library staff.
Libraries can support you and your child by providing;
- A safe and trusted space for you and your little one to explore together.
- Advice on how sharing books together helps you and your baby to bond and helps them to develop vital early literacy skills.
- Access to a wide range of free, quality books for babies and for the whole family. From advice on weaning, sleep training, or just a great story.
- Free Wi-fi and PCs as well as digital support and signposting to other support services in the community.
- A way to connect with other new parents through Bookbug sessions and other free activities – we know that being a new parent can be an overwhelming and often lonely time.
- Access to E-Books, E-Audio, E-Magazines and Comics
The ECALM programme offers a simple, consistent, and nationally branded approach to children’s library membership in Scotland’s public libraries. It will establish simplified joining processes at birth registration, nursery, and primary school enrolment, to ensure that every child in Scotland has access to the valuable learning resources available in public libraries.
