Scottish Welfare Fund
More information
The Scottish Welfare Fund helps families and people in Scotland who are on low incomes through Crisis Grants and Community Care Grants. Scottish Welfare Fund awards are not loans, so you don't need to pay it back. The grants are designed to help people who are on a low income, so you can apply even if you don’t claim benefits.
You can apply for a:
- Crisis Grant – A crisis grant can provide a safety net to meet one-off needs, for basic living expenses such as food, gas and electricity or to buy essential items where there is no other means of support.
- Community Care Grants – A Community Care Grant can help people settle into life after care, help provide support to stay out of care or help people facing exceptional pressures.
Older people, families, couples and people who live alone can qualify, depending on your circumstances. Eligibility criteria must be satisfied to access the fund.
