Independent Reviewer
Professor MacLellan is based in the University of Strathclyde and was previously a Deputy Director in the Health Department of Scottish Government where she had lead responsibility for adult care and support. She led two national reviews of learning disability in 2000 and 2011 and guided the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland ) Act 2007 through the Scottish Parliament. She was also responsible for the development of self -directed support.
Review Partners
The Reviewer is supported and guided by a Steering Group consisting of senior officials from across the relevant disciplines including health, education, social work, the Police service and the Department of Work and Pensions. The Chairs of both the Child and Adult Protection Committees are also members. Regular reports are made by key officials, notably the Chief Social Work Officer, to the Chief Officers Group and local Councillors are regularly appraised of developments.
