Consultation Regarding CCTV In Taxis/Private Hire Cars

At a meeting of the General Purposes Board on 21 September 2022 , the Board authorised the Head of Legal and Democratic Services to commence a consultation to include taxi/private hire operators and members of the public on a draft policy regarding CCTV in taxis/Private Hire vehicles to determine the levels of support for such a policy and record any concerns relative to adopting such a policy.

A copy of the draft Policy on CCCTV in Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles,  together with draft Guidance, is available to download from the downloads section of this webpage.   The Council are seeking the views of the public regarding the Policy.  In particular, the Council are considering whether the installation of CCTV cameras within taxis and private hire vehicles would improve the safety of both drivers and passengers during taxi journeys.

Any responses to the draft policy should be forwarded to the Council’s Licensing section by e-mail to licensing.section@inverclyde.gov.uk by no later than 23 January 2023.
