Mental Health Services available within Inverclyde

More information

Around one in four of us will experience a mental illness at some point in our lives.  When this happens having access to the right treatment and support is vital to help people recover as soon as possible.  Service users have told us that, wherever possible, they would prefer to receive this within their own home or in the local community facilities.

Services to help people with their mental health in Inverclyde have been redesigned over the last few years to enable us to respond quickly to support people experiencing mental illness.  We have invested in new facilities for our community and inpatient services.  The community services are based at Crown House, and our inpatient service is at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.  We are currently in the final stages of closing the old Ravenscraig Hospital and building new inpatient services for people who require NHS continuing care.  This will complete our modernisation programme in Inverclyde and ensure our services are within modern dementia friendly facilities, and continue to link with people requiring these services within our local community.  This work should be complete by the end of 2016.

If you are worred about your mental health you should first see your GP.  You can also refer yourself to the Primary Care Mental Health Team at Crown House (see under Contacts on this page).
