Tell me more about the Physical Standards.
The physical standards are assessed by The Council’s Safer & Inclusive Communities and Building Control to ensure that the tenants of an HMO have adequate sanitary facilities such as WC’s and showers/baths and suitable facilities for the storage, preparation and heating of food. The physical standards also define a minimum room size and give provision for heating, ventilation, gas and electrical safety, water supplies and lighting. Fire Scotland will also assess fire detection systems, fire escapes and fire safety in general.
