Bulk Uplift Service

If you are unable to bring bulky household waste to our Recycling Centres, the Council operates an appointment system for the uplift of bulky household items such as furniture, mattresses, carpets, white goods etc.

Only bulk uplifts of items that can be placed on the kerbside by the customer are being collected. We are unable to provide an uplift service of non-standard items such as home improvement materials (kitchen units, bathroom suites, windows, electrical items) or garden waste (trees and branches). Special or assisted uplifts that require Council staff to enter the garden or interior of a property to either quote or uplift are not possible at this time.

Please note, upholstered furniture that is damaged, ripped or torn, should be completely covered when presented at the kerbside for bulky waste collection. Use (non-returnable) plastic sheeting.

We are unable to uplift the following items: large trampolines, building materials (of any kind), slabs, bricks, slates, concrete, ceramic tiles, or cement, soil, grass, divets, rubble (small quantities can be taken to Pottery Street), pianos, car batteries or car tyres, storage heaters with bricks still inside (storage heaters without bricks accepted), cast iron baths, gas bottles, animal by-products, paint tins containing paint (empty paint tins accepted), cooking oil (tins can be taken to Pottery Street) and poisonous, noxious or other harzardous material - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE CAN MATERIAL OF THIS TYPE BE BROUGHT TO THE RECYCLING CENTRES.

If you want to arrange the uplift of standard bulky household items please call the Customer Service Centre on 01475 717171.

A minimum charge per visit applies for the uplift of up to 5 items.

Follow the link to the Charging Booklet for current costs.

Please note that payment is required in advance for the bulk uplift service.

Uplifts take place on a Wednesday between 7am – 3pm.

Payments must be made by 12 noon on Tuesday to ensure uplift on the next available Wednesday.

Items should be placed on the kerbside by 7am on the day of collection. Please take care not to block access to buildings/footpaths.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
