Corporate Debt Policy

The Council recognises its dual responsibility to collect debts in a sensitive, clear and efficient manner whilst assisting those in need to reduce overall indebtedness and break the cycle.

Sums due to the Council can be a mixture of statutory and non-statutory charges.  The methods for billing, collection and recovery of the statutory debts can be tightly prescribed by law.  The policy presents the general principles to be applied in relation to income collection and debt management across all services provided by the Council and the recovery methods for each debt stream.

The Council's Corporate Debt Policy is found in the Documents section of this page.
