Health information
We stock a range of books about physical and mental health, including our Books on Prescription collection, which provides help for those suffering from mild to moderate mental health issues. Search our catalogue or ask a member of staff to find out more about your particular medical area.
There is so much information on the internet, but when it comes to your health and well-being, it is even more vital that you only access trust-worthy websites. Whether you need to register with a GP or are looking for support groups, the weblinks under External links on this page will help you.
Near Me
With the support of SLIC and NHS, the video consulting service which enables people to attend appointments virtually is now available to access from a private room within South West library. “Near Me is a secure form of video consulting approved for use by the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland”. See the link in the Other Websites section of this page. Please contact 01475 712323 for further information or to book your slot.
Brain Health Questionnaire
To improve brain health and help reduce the risk of developing dementia, Brain Health Scotland working with Alzheimer Scotland have developed an easy-to-use Brain Health questionnaire which is available to access on the computers in all library branches. Just answer a few quick questions about your lifestyle, and the brain health tool will generate personalised tips and advice to help maintain good brain health. Our skilled library staff are also on hand to help you get started. You can also access the Brain Health questionnaire virtually using the link in the Other Websites section of this page.
