Community Wish List

Inverclyde Council is introducing a new way that local communities and organisations can submit requests or wishes, where council suppliers or contractors will help fulfil requests and wishes that are specifically related to local communities, projects and causes.

The main benefit of this is that communities can make requests that best meet their needs and allows suppliers who provide goods and services to the council to support these requests.

Example wishes:

  • We would like financial support to help provide young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and extremely low incomes in Inverclyde with free sports classes
  • We would like support to have a defibrillator installed in Greenock town centre, this life saving equipment could be crucial in an emergency

Who can apply?

The application form is open to any community group, organisation, association or charity in Inverclyde.

How to apply?

The following conditions must be met to apply, please read the following conditions carefully:

  • Any wishes will be subject to the contractors and suppliers funding streams at that time
  • Requests must directly benefit people living in the Inverclyde Council authority area (Wemyss Bay, Inverkip, Gourock, Greenock, Port Glasgow & Kilmacolm)
  • The project should be planned and/or delivered within the contractor/suppliers' deadlines
  • The project must provide added value, award funding should not be used to replace any mainstream budget
  • The maxiimum financial request is £2,000 per wish (ie, a request for cash).  A request for works or services may exceed this limit
  • When requesting services, for example landscaping, groups are encouraged to provide comprehensive details in their request. This should include the size of the area and, if possible, supporting photographs to enable registered businesses to evaluate the feasibility of fulfilling the request.  Additionally, requests for works must be accompanied by proof of land ownership and any necessary consents to allow approval of the request

To submit an application, please visit the portal link located in the 'Other Website' section of this page

Exclusions from Inverclyde Council’s community wish list:

  • Projects or wishes that are targeted to people who do not live within the Inverclyde Council authority area
  • Creation of paid employment opportunities
  • Construction related projects (homes, premises, shops, facilities, roads)
  • Insurance/licence fees (with the exception of Temporary Public Entertainment Licences).
  • A request which serves one individual, family or an informal group (friends)
  • A request that concerns land or property your group or organisation does not own

What happens after I submit a wish?

Once a request has been received, a member of our team will be in touch if any additional information is required. Once all information about your wish is finalised and, if your wish is accepted for inclusion, your wish will be added to the Community Benefits Hub and visible to approved Suppliers on the Hub.

There is no guarantee that a request will be selected and Inverclyde Council cannot provide a timeframe as to when/if your wish will be selected.
