European and American Paintings
Although small in number, the McLean Museum collection contains works by major European artists such as Eugéne Louis Boudin (1824-1898), Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796-1875) and Gustave Courbet (1819-1877) as well as works by lesser known European artists from France, Italy, Russia and the Netherlands.
The is also a small group of paintings from the United States which includes works from the Tonalist school of artists such as Arthur Hoeber (1854-1915), George Hirst Bogert (1864-1944) and Charles Warren Eaton (1857-1937. There also works by the Texan artist Julian Onderdonk (1882-1922), the Danish born still life painter Sören Emil Carlsen (1853-1932) in addition to watercolours by Francis Hopkinson Smith (1838-1915) and an oil painting by the American émigré painter Mark Fisher (1841-1923).
