Taxi Fares Review 2007 |

|
|
There was
submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration asking that the
Board determine the taxi fare scales and charges following the annual review. |
|
|
Following
discussion Councillor Rebecchi moved that the changeover time for all tariffs
be 12 midnight and that there be a 2½% increase across all tariffs to be
achieved by a 2½% reduction in yardage.
As an amendment Councillor Moran moved that the changeover time remain
at 11 pm and that there be a 2½ % increase across all tariffs to be achieved
by a 2½% reduction in yardage. |

On a vote
4 Members voted for the motion and 4 for the amendment. There being equality in voting the Convener
exercised his casting vote in favour of the amendment which was declared
carried. |
|
|
Decided: that the changeover time for all tariffs remain
at 11 pm and that there be a 2½%
increase across all tariffs to be achieved by a 2½% reduction in yardage and
that it be remitted to the Head of Legal and Administration to make the
necessary arrangements to implement the new taxi fare scales and charges. |
|
|
|
|
|
It was agreed in terms of
Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended that
the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the
following items of business on the grounds that the business involved the
likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 6 of Part I
of Schedule 7(A) of the Act. |

Application for Renewal of Taxi
Licence: Anthony McKenzie |

|
There was submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration on
an application for renewal of taxi licence by Mr Anthony McKenzie following
an objection by Mr James Cannon on the grounds that Mr McKenzie did not
utilise his taxi for wheelchair passengers. The Board heard Mr Cannon in
support of his objection and Mr Tom McEntegarty of the Taxi Federation on
behalf of Mr McKenzie in support of his application. |

Decided: that the application be granted. |
|

Driver’s Licence: John Simpson |

There was submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration
on an application for taxi driver’s licence by Mr John Simpson following an
objection by the Chief Constable on the grounds that the applicant was not a
fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous
convictions. |
|
|
Decided: that the application be refused. |
|
