Application for Taxi Licence: John Hardie |

|
|
|
|
There was
submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration advising that Mr
Hardie had omitted to make timeous application for his licence to be renewed
before it expired but it had been dealt with using the procedure for the
exercise of powers delegated to the Chief Executive for use between
Committees and it had been agreed to authorise the grant of a Taxi Licence to
Mr Hardie. |

Taxi Fares Review |

|
There was
submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration advising of the
outcome of the informal consultation process for the annual review of taxi
fares, namely proposals submitted by the Lower Clyde Taxi Owners’ Association
with comments from Officers on those proposals and an objection to any
increase in fares by Clyde Cabs. The
Board heard Mr McNeilly who summarised the contents of the report and the
relative correspondence. |

Decided: that for the purposes of public
consultation the Council’s proposals for the review of taxi fares be as
follows:- |
|
|
(1) a
2 ½% increase across all tariffs to be achieved by a 2 ½% reduction in
yardage; and |
|
|
(2) changeover time for all tariffs to be
12 midnight. |
|
|
|
|
|
It was agreed in terms of
Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended that
the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the
following items of business on the grounds that the business involved the
likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 6 of Part I
of Schedule 7(A) of the Act. |

Application for Taxi

There was submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration
on five applications for a Taxi Licence following an objection by the Taxi
Owners’ Association. The Board heard Ms
Yvonne Robertson of Cannons Law Partnership and Mr John Simpson in support of
the application. |
|
|
Councillor Rebecchi moved to defer the decision for 3 months to allow
for further consultation. As an
amendment Councillor McCallum moved to grant the applications. On a vote 2 Members voted for the motion
and 8 for the amendment which was declared carried. |
|
|
Decided: that the 5 applications be granted
subject to the special conditions detailed in Appendix 2 to the report. |

Application for Taxi
Licence: James Cannon |

|
|
|
Councillor Ahlfeld declared a non-financial interest by virtue of
personal acquaintance with the applicant and left the meeting. Councillor
McKenzie presided in his stead. |
|
|
There was submitted a report by the Head of Legal and Administration
on an application for a Taxi Licence following an objection by the Taxi
Owners’ Association. The Board heard
Mr Cannon in support of his application. |
|
|
Councillor Dorrian moved to grant the application. As an amendment Councillor Rebecchi moved
to defer the decision for 3 months to allow for further consultation. On a vote 2 Members voted for the amendment
and 7 for the motion which was declared carried. |
|
|
Decided: that the application be granted subject to
the special conditions detailed in Appendix 2 to the report. |
