There was submitted a report dated 30 March 2001 by the Depute Chief Executive seeking authority to proceed with the Transportation & Roads Capital Programme 2001/2002 and requesting the Committee to determine priorities. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the Committee approve the projects and priorities listed in paragraph 2 of the report in respect of the Capital Programme 2001/2002 and agree that these should now proceed; and |
|
|
(2) that it be noted that work will proceed on the previously approved projects carried over from the Capital Programme 2000/2001. |

There was submitted a report by the Depute Chief Executive seeking authority to proceed with the Economic Development Service and Planning Services Capital Programme 2001/2002. |

(1) that the Economic Development Service and Planning Services Capital Programme 2001/2002 as detailed in the report be approved; and |
|
|
(2) that a further detailed report on the Integrated Advice and Guidance Centre project be submitted to the Committee. |

Valley Area Waste Plan |

There was submitted a report dated 29 March 2001 by the Depute Chief Executive (1) on the ongoing preparation of the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Area Waste Plan and (2) advising of an event to be held in May 2001 to inform elected Members of progress on the Area Waste Plan and to seek their contributions on its content. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the contents of the report be noted; and |
|
|
(2) that Councillors take the opportunity to attend the event to be held in May 2001 and contribute to the process. |

Road Safety Unit
Progress Report April 2000 to March 2001 |

There was submitted a report dated 23 March 2001 by the Depute Chief Executive on the work undertaken by the Road Safety Training Officers relative to schools' activities, cycling, publicity, the Schools' Working Group, liaison activities and school crossing patrols during the period April 2000 to March 2001. |
|

Decided: that the contents of the report be noted. |
|
|
It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government
(Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from
the meeting for the following 3 items on the grounds that the business
involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the
respective paragraphs of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act as are set
opposite each item. |

There was submitted a report dated 30 March 2001 by the Depute Chief Executive (1) on tenders invited from the companies detailed in the report for the road lighting maintenance contract 2001-2005(6) due to commence on 1 July 2001 and (2) seeking delegated authority for tender acceptance to allow the maximum setting up time and to ensure a smooth changeover. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that delegated authority be granted to the Director of Legal & Support Services in the usual manner for tender acceptance; and |
|
|
(2) that it be noted that a presentation on the operation of the road lighting maintenance contract will be made to the Committee in due course. |

East India and Victoria Harbours |

There was submitted a report by the Depute Chief Executive on a Development Strategy prepared by consultants in respect of East India and Victoria Harbours (1) commenting on the Strategy and (2) making a number of recommendations in that connection. |
|
|
Following consideration, the Committee agreed (1) that the preparatory studies for progressing the development of East India and Victoria Harbours continue; (2) that, informed by the results of (1) above, negotiation for development proceeds; (3) that the Depute Chief Executive report back on the negotiation for approval in due course; (4) that the Council support in principle the action proposed; and (5) that it be remitted to the Head of Planning Services to contact developers who have undertaken waterfront developments at locations similar to the area at East India and Victoria Harbours for information which may assist the Council in determining its priorities and the preferred elements and uses to be incorporated within the development, all as detailed in the Appendix. |
