Present:- Provost Allan, Councillors Calvert, Jackson, Roach, McGhee, Robertson (Y), Mulholland, Finnie and Campbell, Councillor Roach, Vice-Convener, in the Chair.
In attendance:- The Chief Executive, the Assistant Chief Executive (Economic Development and Urban Regeneration), the Director of Central Services, Mr C Clelland (for the Director of Legal Services), the Director of Planning, Mr M Ferguson (for the Director of Property and Technical Services), and the Director of Transportation and Roads.
An apology for absence was intimated on behalf of Councillor Morrison (M).

185 INVERCLYDE LOCAL PLAN: FIRST REVIEW - CONSULTATIVE DRAFT 185
SUBMITTED: Report dated 12 February 1998 by the Director of Planning on the first review of the Inverclyde Local Plan, approved by the former Inverclyde District Council in 1988, together with copy of the Consultative Draft Written Statement and proposals maps. The report provided an overview of the purpose of local plans, within the context of development planning, the statutory local plan process and the consultation process and outlined the content of the Local Plan.
There were circulated copies of amendment to the reports recommendation together with amended paragraphs 7.32 - 7.36 inclusive of the Consultative Draft Written Statement (Sites where Housing Development has been Suggested).
DECIDED:
(a) That the Committee approve the Inverclyde Local Plan: First Review - Consultative Draft for consultation purposes;
(b) That it be remitted to the Director of Planning to make the necessary arrangements for the publication, advertising and publicity in respect of the Consultative Draft Local Plan and the programming of consultation to be undertaken during the consultation period;
(c) That it be remitted to the Director of Planning to make minor editorial alterations and amendments to the text of the Written Statement, prior to it being published; and
(d) That it be remitted to the Director of Planning to make amendments to the Written Statement to reflect the Council's support for quality housing provision and the proposed residential development at Levan Farm, Gourock and any significant Committee decisions since 16 December 1997 which alter the content of the Consultative Draft.
