1. A provisional sum for dayworks was included in the Bills of
Quantities in the amount of £1,080. This amount was not expended. £1,080 reduction
2. A provisional sum for rot treatment works and repairs was included
in the Bills of Quantities in the amount of £6,400. The actual
amount of rot repair required totalled £2,788. £3,612 reduction
3. A provisional sum for Clause 8B insurance was included in the
Bills of Quantities in the amount of £1,000. This amount was not
expended. £1,000 reduction
DEMOLITION: McLEAN'S BOAT YARD - COVE ROAD, GOUROCK
1. A provisional sum for dayworks was included in the Bills of
Quantities in the amount of £1,600. This amount was not expended. £1,600 reduction
2. The fencing to the rear of the site was deleted due to the adjoining
neighbour requesting a wall in lieu of the fencing due to the nature
of his work, ie MOT garage required fully enclosed site and yard.
The cost of the fencing was used to offset the cost of the wall. £ 975 reduction
3. This item covers the cost of the new brick wall in lieu of the fencing
as item 2 above. The cost of the wall was offset by the omission of
the fencing and the unexpended contingency allowance. £1,750 increase
ST COLUMBA'S HIGH SCHOOL WINDOW REPLACEMENT (CONTINUATION), GOUROCK
1. The Bill of Quantities included items for roughcast/render repairs
around windows and to ingoes in the amount of £8,168. The actual
amount of repairs required reduced due to the render/roughcast being
in better condition than anticipated, amounting to £868. £7,300 reduction

The Committee heard Mr McCaig in support of his application. After consideration, Councillor Nimmo moved that the application be granted until 2.00 am. As an amendment, Councillor Mulholland moved that the application be granted until 3.00 am. On a vote, three Members voted for the motion and six for the amendment which was declared carried.
DECIDED: That the application be granted between 11.00 pm and 3.00 am on Thursdays to Sundays.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 16 April 1997 by the Director of Central Services following a report by the Director of Transportation and Roads on the current responsibilities of the various Departments with regard to the four reservoirs owned by the Council and making a number of recommendations.
DECIDED:
(a) That the Director of Property and Technical Services assume the responsibilities arising from the Council's ownership of the four reservoirs within Inverclyde including the responsibility for funding the management, maintenance and repair of the reservoirs as detailed in paragraph 4.1 to the Appendix; and
(b) That the Committee approve the works to the Town Dam at an estimated cost of £1,500 and Cowdenknowes Reservoir at an estimated cost of £9,500 as detailed in paragraph 4 of the Appendix to the report.
