There was submitted a report dated 24 August 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the arrangements for the public fireworks display to be held on 4 November 2000 at the Battery Park, Greenock and requesting the Committee to seek approval from the Policy & Strategy Committee for funding of the event in the sum of £14,800 from the Common Good Fund. |

Decided: (1) that the contents of the report be noted; and (2) that it be remitted to the Policy & Strategy Committee to consider the request for the sum of £14,800 from the Common Good Fund for the cost of the fireworks display. |

There was submitted a report dated 24 August 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the arrangements for the switch on of the Christmas lights at various locations in Inverclyde and requesting the Committee to seek approval from the Policy & Strategy Committee for funding in the sum of £8,000 from the Common Good Fund towards the cost of staging the switch on events. |

to Existing Delegations for Consumer and Trading Standards Legislation |

There was submitted a report dated 28 August 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the introduction of licensing of butcher shops and the recent change in the management responsibility for the Consumer & Trading Services which require the Council's scheme of delegation to be altered to allow for the proper discharge of duties within Environmental & Consumer Services. |

Decided: (1) that the Head of Environmental & Consumer Services be authorised to issue licences in respect of the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) (Butchers Shops) Amendment Regulations 2000; (2) that a full report on the implementation and effect of a licensing scheme for butchers shops be submitted to Committee in due course; and (3) that the Head of Environmental & Consumer Services be authorised to exercise all powers including the power to appoint suitably qualified officers, appropriate to the proper administration of the Consumer & Trading Standards Service. |

Decided: that the tender for the Ice Rink Refrigeration Maintenance Contract, that by SPL Refrigeration, be accepted in the sum of £29,628 for a three year period. |
