The following paragraphs are submitted for information only, having
been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Committee. |
|

The Convener being of the opinion that the undernoted reports by the
Director of Community & Protective Services on the use of Port Glasgow
High School Swimming Pool and the acceptance of a tender relating to Gourock
Pool Boiler Plant Renewal were relevant, competent and urgent authorised
their consideration to allow the Committee to be advised of the current
position. This was unanimously agreed
in terms of the relevant Standing Order. |

There was submitted a report dated 24 March 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the progress on site of current projects. With regard to the position relating to Port Glasgow Baths it was noted that tenders had been invited for the appointment of consultants and that a report would be available by 24 May 2000. Noted |

There was submitted a report dated 4 April 2000 by the Director of Resource Services detailing the financial position in respect of the current and proposed projects included in the 1999/2000 Capital Programme. |

Play Areas Development |

There was submitted a dated 29 March 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services on the result of the survey carried out on play areas throughout Inverclyde. (Councillor Robertson (Y) entered the meeting during consideration of this item of business at 3.15 pm and left the meeting at 3.20 pm). |

Decided: (1) that all play areas be inspected annually by an external safety organisation such as RoSpa at an approximate cost of £4,000; |
|
|
(2) that the play areas be inspected monthly by Council Officers; |
|
|
(3) that it be remitted to the Director of Community & Protective Services to carry out an audit of the equipment at the play areas; |
|
|
(4) that it be remitted to the Director of Community & Protective Services to submit a report on vandalism and accidents at play areas; and |
|
|
(5) that the report be remitted to the Policy and Strategy Committee for funds to carry out essential improvements to play areas throughout the area. |

There was submitted a report dated 5 April 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the number of users of facilities run under the Leisure Management Contract in respect of Leisure Services for the period from 14 February 2000 to 31 March 2000. |

Decided: that the contents of the report be noted and the action taken to ensure target attendances be approved. |

There was submitted a report dated 30 March 2000 by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the Food Standards Agency which is due to come into effect on 3 April 2000 and advising of the proposed Codes of Practice in terms of food safety and the implications of such Codes. |
|

Decided: (1) that the content of the report be noted and the appendix to the report setting out the draft Food Safety Plan for the year 2000/2001 be approved; and |
|
|
(2) that it be remitted to the Director of Community & Protective Services to advise the Committee of the implications for the Council as further guidance is issued by the Food Standards Agency. |

There was submitted a report by the Director of Community & Protective Services advising of the use of the emergency powers procedure under Standing Order 66(a) to authorise the use of Port Glasgow High School swimming pool during the temporary closure of Port Glasgow Baths. |

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government
(Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from
the meeting for the following items on the grounds that the business involved
the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the respective

each item. |

Decided: that it be remitted to the Director of Community & Protective Services to accept the tender submitted by SDK (Kilsyth) in the sum of £19,985 plus VAT. |
