Recycling Advisory Committee |

|
There was submitted a report by the Director of Community Services advising of the work of the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC). |
|
|
Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the formation of a Scottish Membership Forum be supported and the work of LARAC be noted; and |
|
|
(2) that the Waste Strategy Unit be advised that the Waste Strategy Sub-Committee should be included in the monthly e-mail newsletter. |

There was submitted a report by the Director of Community Services on the up to date position of the Waste Strategy Programme. Mr Lang advised that the Council Kerbside Scheme had been running since 7 March 2005 and updated Members on the following points:- |

(b) Enquiries/Complaints |

(c) Materials Collected |
|
|
(d) Visit to Angus |
|
|
(e) Waste Audit |
|
|
Decided: that (i) that the update be noted; (ii) that Mr Barnes provide details on the amount of residual waste now being generated at the Pottery Street Depot; (iii) that additional community bins for glass be situated at locations where necessary, (iv) that publicity be give to (a) advising that side waste will no longer be uplifted, (b) that waste should be compacted where appropriate and (c) that the ‘real nappy scheme’ should be promoted and (v) that it be remitted to the Director of Community Services to consider a suitable scheme to include recycling and collection of glass and to make provision for residents in high flats to be included in the scheme. |
