Strategic Waste Fund
Grant Support Offer: Food Waste Trial
(2007/08 to 2008/09) |

|
|
There was submitted a report by the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection advising of an offer received from the Scottish Government to support a food waste trial for the period 2007/08 to 2008/09. |
|
|
Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the report be noted; |
|
|
(2) that it be remitted to the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection to accept the award with the proviso that the timescales for implementation are reviewed and that the Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) licensing conditions for the processing of food waste are clarified; and |
|
|
(3) that when the issues relating to timescales and the PPC licensing are concluded to the Council’s satisfaction, it be remitted to the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection to proceed with the procurement and implementation stages of the proposed food waste trial scheme. |

Safer and Stronger Inverclyde Policy and Procedures Statement - Progress on

There was submitted a report by the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection (1) providing an update on the Action Plan relating to the Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Stronger Inverclyde Policy and Procedures Statement and (2) requesting the Sub-Committee to agree to a further update report being submitted in six months time. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the second progress report on the Action Plan relating to the Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Stronger Inverclyde Policy and Procedures Statement be noted; and |
|
|
(2) that a further update report be submitted to the Sub-Committee in six months time. |

There was submitted a report by the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection (1) providing details of the Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Stronger Christmas Campaign 2007 and (2) requesting the Sub-Committee to approve the related expenditure. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the content of the Cleaner, Greener, Safer and Stronger Christmas Campaign be noted; and |
|
|
(2) that approval be given to expenditure on the Campaign as detailed in the report. |

Local Authority
Carbon Management Programme |

|
|
There was submitted a report by the Corporate Director Environment and Community Protection (1) providing an update on the progress made in developing the Council’s response to Phase 5 of the Local Authority Carbon Management Programme (LACMP) and (2) outlining the proposals and timescales contained in the Scottish Climate Change Bill announced by the Scottish Government in June 2007. |

Decided: |
|
|
(1) that the report be noted; |
|
|
(2) that the Committee note the outline proposals and timescales for consultation on the forthcoming Scottish Climate Change Bill being introduced by the Scottish Government; and |
|
|
(3) that a further progress report relative to the Council’s participation in Phase 5 of the Local Authority Carbon Management Programme be submitted to the Sub-Committee in January 2008. |
