Present:- Provost Allan, Councillors Clocherty, McGhee, Nimmo, Mulholland, Rebecchi and Welch, Councillor Mulholland in the Chair.

 

In attendance:- The Chief Executive, the Assistant Chief Executive (Social and Community Development), the Director of Central Services, Mr A Puckrin (for the Director of Finance), the Director of Housing and Customer Services and the Director of Property and Technical Services.

 

Apologies for absence were intimated on behalf of Councillors Morrison (D), O'Rourke, Jackson and Mitchell.

 

The following paragraphs are submitted for information only, having been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Committee.

 

   875      RESOLUTION : EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS                                                                    875

 

On the motion of the Chairman, it was agreed unanimously that, in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the undernoted items of business on the grounds that consideration of the items involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 8 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

   876      GIBSHILL NEW BUILD HOUSING - REPORT ON TENDERS                                                          876

 

SUBMITTED:  Report dated 1 August 1997 by the Director of Housing and Customer Services on 7 tenders received for the construction of 19 new houses at Shankland Lane, Greenock together with associated roads, services and landscaping works.

DECIDED:  That it be remitted to the Director of Central Services to accept the lowest tender, that by Central Building Contractors (Glasgow) Ltd in the corrected sum of £1,159,254.24.

 

   877      DOOR ENTRY SYSTEM PROGRAMME 1997/98 - REPORT ON TENDERS                                    877

 

SUBMITTED:  Report dated 1 August 1997 by the Director of Housing and Customer Services on 6 tenders received for the remainder of the door entry system programme 1997/98.  The report advised of a number of alterations made to the programme together with further deletions and substitutions which may be required due to owner occupiers in certain properties withholding their consent to the carrying out of the works.

DECIDED: 

(a)  That the current position of the door entry system programme 1997/98 be noted; and

(b)  That it be remitted to the Director of Central Services to accept the lowest tender, that by Star Electrics Ltd in the corrected sum of £85,045.90.
