There was submitted a report dated 7 November 2002 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on the progress made against the Council’s Service Review Schedule.  (Councillor Mitchell entered the meeting during consideration of this item of business).

Service Review - Legal & Support Services - Contracts/Tendering Procedures

There was submitted a report dated 5 November 2002 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on a review of the contracts/tendering procedures carried out by Legal & Support Services, in accordance with the Council’s Best Value Review Schedule.

Decided: 

(1) that the report be noted; and

(2) that it be agreed that the service continue to be provided by Legal & Support Services with the minor changes identified in the Action Plan.

Service Review - Transportation & Roads Service: Administration and Clerical Support

There was submitted a report dated 6 November 2002 by the Depute Chief Executive on a review of the administration and clerical support within the Transportation & Roads Service, in accordance with the Council’s Best Value Review Schedule.

Decided: 

(1)  that the report be noted; and

(2)  that it be agreed that the service continue to be provided by the Transportation & Roads Administration and Clerical Section.

Economic Development Services Review Schedule

There was submitted a report dated November 2002 by the Depute Chief Executive on the current status of the outstanding best value reviews within Economic Development Services.

Decided: 

(1)  that it be noted that 2 of the 11 reviews due for submission to this meeting of the Committee were still outstanding and would be submitted to the next meeting;

(2)  that it be noted that the 2 reviews due for submission to the Committee on 11 February 2003 were on programme for completion by that date; and

(3)  that it be noted that submission of the 4 outstanding reviews to the next meeting of the Committee on 11 February 2003 would complete the review cycle for Economic Development Services.

Service Review - Planning Services: Building Control

There was submitted a report dated 6 November 2002 by the Depute Chief Executive on a review of the building warrant processing function carried out by Planning Services, in accordance with the Council’s Best Value Review Schedule.

Decided:

(1)  that the summary report be noted; and

(2)  that approval be given to the continuation of the building warrant processing service with the minor changes identified in the Action Plan.

Decided:  that the report be endorsed.

There was submitted a report dated 8 November 2002 by the Director of Social Work & Housing Services (1) on the progress made in the service review for Social Work & Housing Services included in the Council’s Service Review Schedule and (2) seeking approval for certain suggested alterations to the Schedule.

Decided: 

(1) that the report be noted; and

(2) that approval be given to the proposed alterations to the Best Value Service Review Schedule relating to Social Work & Housing Services.
