In Attendance:- The Chief Executive, the Depute Chief Executive, the Assistant Chief Executive (Economic Development and Urban Regeneration), the Assistant Chief Executive (Social and Community Development), the Director of Central Services, the Director of Education Services, the Director of Finance and the Director of Property and Technical Services.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 3 March 1997 by the Director of Central Services arising from the special meeting of the Education Services Committee held on 1 April 1997 to consider proposals relating to the review of school provision within Inverclyde following the results of the consultative process and requesting the Policy and Strategy Committee to consider the Committee's recommendations thereon as detailed in the report.
Following discussion, Councillor Finnie moved:-
(a) That a full and open review of all schools within Inverclyde be carried out as a matter of urgency; and
(b) That no alternative use of any school surplus accommodation be made unless a report is submitted to the Education Services Committee for approval.
As an amendment, Councillor Robertson (Y) moved that the policy formulated for future development as set out in the decision of the meeting of the Education Services Committee detailed in the report by the Director of Central Services be accepted.
On a vote, 3 Members voted for the amendment and 7 for the motion which was declared carried.
DECIDED: That the policy formulated for future development as set out in the decision of the meeting of the Education Services Committee detailed in the report by the Director of Central Services be accepted.
