Present:- Councillors Calvert, Roach, McGhee and Rebecchi, Councillor McGhee, Convener, in the Chair.

 

In attendance:- The Director of Central Services and Mr C Clelland (for the Director of Legal Services).

 

Attending also:- Councillor Mulholland.

     48      PROPOSED TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER - FINNOCKBOG ROAD, INVERKIP                       48

 

SUBMITTED:  Report dated 30 December 1997 by the Director of Central Services requesting the Sub-Committee, in terms of the Local Roads Authorities' Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1987, to consider the proposed Traffic Regulation Order - Finnockbog Road, Inverkip which would prohibit driving on a length of Finnockbog Road on either side of  the Glasgow - Wemyss Bay railway line and prevent vehicular traffic gaining access to Inverkip


Village, via Finnockbog Road and Station Road, from the Hillfarm development.  Letters of objection and support and the Director of Transportation and Roads' comments thereon were appended to the report.

The Sub-Committee heard the Director of Transportation and Roads, Mr S Hartley (Department of Transportation and Roads) and Mr F Williamson (Department of Planning) in explanation of the proposed Order, Ms E Cruikshank, Mr I Banner, Mr R G Stewart, Mr W Miller, Mr Scott and Mr W Allan for the objectors and Mr R McGill for those in support of the proposal and Councillor Campbell, Ward Councillor.

DECIDED:

(a)  That the proposed Traffic Regulation Order at Finnockbog Road, Inverkip be not confirmed; and

(b)  That it be remitted to the Director of Transportation and Roads to prepare and make a new Traffic Regulation Order, based on prohibition of driving beyond the hammerhead junction at Finnockbog Road lying to the south of the Glasgow - Wemyss Bay railway line, for consideration in due course.
