Application for Taxi Licence:  Charles McLaughlin

There was submitted a report dated 28 October 2005 by the Solicitor to the Council advising that Mr Charles McLaughlin had omitted to make timeous application for his licence to be renewed before it expired, that it had been dealt with using the procedure for the exercise of powers delegated to the Chief Executive for use between Committees and it had been agreed to authorise the grant of a Taxi Licence to Mr McLaughlin.

It was noted that the report had been withdrawn and agreed that a new date would be set for the hearing.

Application for Temporary Market Operator’s Licence:  Renfrewshire Farmers’ Market Co-operative

There was submitted a report dated 13 December 2005 by the Solicitor to the Council advising on an application for a Temporary Market Operator’s Licence by the Renfrewshire Farmers’ Market Co-operative to operate a Farmers’ Market in Clyde Square, Greenock on 17 December 2005.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be granted on the recommended conditions.

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

Application for Taxi Driver’s Licence:  James Gisbey

Councillors McCormick (M) and Tucker declared a non-financial interest by virtue of personal acquaintance with the applicant and left the meeting.

 

 

There was submitted a report dated 22 November 2005 by the Solicitor to the Council on an application for a Taxi Driver’s Licence by James Gisbey following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.2

 

 

The Panel heard Chief Inspector Doran of Strathclyde Police, Mr Gisbey and Mr Harvey, agent for Mr Gisbey.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be refused.
