Present:  Councillors Forbes (for Gallacher), McCormick (M), Moran, Nimmo, Snoddy and Tucker.

The following paragraphs are submitted for information only, having been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Panel.

 

 

 

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

Application for Taxi Licence - John Murdoch

231

 

 

 

 

Councillor McCormick (M) declared a non-financial interest by virtue of personal acquaintance with the applicant and left the meeting.

 

 

There was submitted a report dated 20 January 2005 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a taxi licence by John Murdoch to make available to the public a vehicle specially adapted for use by the disabled.  The Panel heard Mr Murdoch in support of his application.

 

 

Decided:

 

 

(1)      that the application be continued until a special meeting to be held on 18 May 2005 commencing at 3.00 pm;  and

 

 

(2)      that it be remitted to the Director of Corporate Services to carry out consultations to assess the quality and extent of service provided to the disabled following the issue of additional taxi licences with the following:-.

 

 

Associations/bodies representative of the disabled;

 

 

Local taxi firms;

 

 

Holders of those taxi licences issued to address the demand for taxi services for the disabled.

Application for Taxi Driver’s Licence:  William C Burns

232

 

 

 

 

Councillor McCormick (M) returned to the meeting at this point.

 

 

There was submitted a report dated 24 February 2005 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a taxi driver’s licence by William C Burns following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be refused.
