Taxi Fares Review

There was submitted a report dated 1 October 2004 by the Director of Corporate Services advising of the results of the statutory consultation exercise in respect of the Taxi Fares Review 2004.

 

 

Decided:  that it be remitted to the Director of Legal and Support Services to make the necessary arrangements to implement the new taxi fare scales as detailed in the report taking effect from Sunday 14 November 2004 and completed the following Sunday, 21 November.

Application for Taxi Licence:  Greenock Taxis Ltd

There was submitted a report dated 21 September 2004 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a  taxi licence by Greenock Taxis Ltd, 27 Lauriston Street, Edinburgh.  It was noted that the applicant had failed to make timeous application for the licence to be renewed before its expiry.  The report advised that the licence was granted following the use of powers delegated to the Chief Executive between Committees.

 

 

Noted

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

Application for Taxi Driver's Licence:  Alexander Easdale

There was submitted a report dated 29 September 2004 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a taxi driver’s licence by Alexander Easdale following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous conviction.  The Panel heard Superintendent McGrath, Mr Lyons, agent for the applicant and Mr Easdale.  Following discussion Councillor McKenzie moved that the application be granted.  As an amendment Councillor Tucker moved that the application be refused.  On a vote 1 Member voted for the amendment and 4 for the motion which was declared carried.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be granted.

Application for Taxi Driver’s Licence:  Christopher Lynch

There was submitted a report dated 29 September 2004 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a taxi driver’s licence by Christopher Lynch following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.  The Panel heard Superintendent McGrath and Mr Lynch.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be refused.

There was submitted a report dated 29 September 2004 by the Director of Corporate Services on an application for a taxi driver’s licence by Stephen Provan following a representation by the Chief Constable.  The Panel heard Superintendent McGrath and Mr Provan.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be granted.
