Applications for Temporary Public Entertainment Licences - Greenock Arts Guild, Campbell Street, Greenock

There was submitted a report dated 28 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Temporary Public Entertainment Licence by Greenock Arts Guild Ltd in respect of premises at Campbell Street, Greenock to permit them to hold an international drama competition on 1-4 June 2000 between 12.00 midnight and 2.00 am on Thursday to Saturday and until 2.00 am on Sunday.  An application to hold the children's show "The Singing Kettle" on Sunday 17 September 2000 between the hours of 10.00 am and 8.30 pm was also considered.

Decided:  that the applications be granted.

Application for Taxi Licence:  Thomas Marshall

There was submitted a report dated 7 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Taxi Licence by Thomas Marshall who had omitted to make timeous application for his licence to be renewed before its expiry on 29 February 2000.  The report advised that Mr Marshall's licence was granted following the use of the emergency powers procedure under Standing Order 66(a).

Application for Taxi Driver's Licence:  Charles Travers

It was noted that this report was withdrawn.

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items of business on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

Taxi Licences for the Disabled

There was submitted a report dated 19 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services requesting the Panel to consider the position in respect of the provision of taxis for disabled passengers following the surrender of a taxi licence held by Paul McCluskey.  (Councillor Morrison (D) entered the meeting during consideration of this item of business.)

Decided:  that the report be continued for further consultations to be carried out and that it be remitted to the Director of Legal & Support Services to provide a further report in due course.

Application for Taxi Driver's Licence:  Harry Hopkins

There was submitted a report dated 26 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application by Harry Hopkins for a Taxi Driver's Licence following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.

Decided:  that the application be refused.

Application for Taxi Driver's Licence:  Peter McMonagle

There was submitted a report dated 25 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Peter McMonagle following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.  The Panel heard Chief Superintendent Murray, Mr Sweeney, agent for the applicant, and the applicant.

Decided:  that the application be granted.

There was submitted a report dated 26 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Brian McDade following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.

Decided:  that the application be refused.

There was submitted a report dated 19 April 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Frank McPherson following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous conviction.  The Panel heard Chief Superintendent Murray and Mr McPherson.
