The following paragraphs are submitted for information only, having been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Panel.

Application for Late Hours Catering Licence:  6/8 West Blackhall Street, Greenock

28

 

There was submitted a report dated 21 December 1999 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application made by Margaret Haines to allow the operation of a hot food takeaway between the hours of 11.00 pm and 1.30 am on Thursdays to Saturdays at the premises known as Paccino's, 6/8 West Blackhall Street, Greenock.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be granted on Thursdays between 11.00 pm and 12.30 am and between 11.00 pm and 1.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Applications for Street Trader's Licence:  Karen Naughton/Alistair Ayr

There was submitted a report dated 16 December 1999 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on applications for Street Trader's Licences by Karen Naughton and Alistair Ayr to allow them to operate a mobile hot food snack van at Lower Laird Street, Greenock between the hours of 11.00 pm and 3.00 am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  A letter of representation had been received from Strathclyde Police and letters of objection had been received from Mrs M Pollock, 1 Laird Street, Greenock, Mr H Locke, Robertson Rainwear, West Blackhall Street, Greenock, S Hendry, 9 Laird Street, Greenock and Mr J Pow, 52 West Blackhall Street, Greenock.  The Panel heard Chief Superintendent O'Connell with regard to the Chief Constable's representation and Ms Heron in support of the application.

Decided:  that the applications be granted between 11.00 pm and 2.00 am on Fridays to Sundays for the period of one year only.

Application for Street Trader's Licence:  Stephen Hughes

There was submitted a report dated 16 December 1999 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Street Trader's Licence by Stephen Hughes to allow him to operate a mobile hot food snack van at Station Road, Gourock following a representation by the Chief Constable.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be refused.

Applications for Taxi Driver's Licences:  Medical Examinations

There was submitted a report dated 13 December 1999 by the Director of Legal & Support Services in response to the Panel's remit regarding the carrying out of medical examinations every five years for taxi drivers aged 45 and over.

 

 

Decided:  that the Council's existing policy regarding standards of fitness and medical examinations for taxi drivers be continued.

Application for Temporary Public Entertainment Licence:  Craig Fawbert, Parklea, Port Glasgow

There was submitted a report dated 12 January 2000 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Temporary Public Entertainment Licence by Craig Fawbert to hold a music festival from 1.00 pm on Saturday 3 June to 6.00 am on Sunday 4 June 2000 at Parklea Park, Port Glasgow.

 

 

Decided:  that the Panel was favourably disposed in principle to the application for holding a music festival and that it be remitted to the Director of Legal & Support Services to submit a further report on progress in dealing with the application.

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business as defined in paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

Application for Taxi Driver's Licence:  Arthur Cox

There was submitted a report dated 8 December 1999 by the Director of Legal & Support Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Arthur Cox following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions.  The Panel heard Chief Superintendent O'Connell and Mr Cox.

 

 

Decided:  that the application be granted.
