SUBMITTED: Report dated 23 September 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Second Hand Dealer's Licence by Giovanni Gobbi to allow him to sell second-hand cars from premises at 2 Tarbet Street, Gourock.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 23 September 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Late Hours Catering Licence by Abdul Wahid Karim to allow the operation of a hot food takeaway.
The applicant had sought originally to have the premises known as Manzil Tandoori, 42 Princes Street, Port Glasgow open from 11 pm to 1 am daily but had subsequently amended his application to the hours of 11 pm to 12 midnight on Sundays to Thursdays and 11 pm to 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
DECIDED: That the application for the amended hours be granted.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 7 October 1998 by the Director of Central Services advising that authority had been received using the procedure under Standing Order 66 to grant a Street Trader's Licence to Mary McClafferty to allow her to trade from a mobile snack van at the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal in Gourock.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 13 October 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Cinema Licence by West Coast Cinemas, 41 John Street, Dunoon for the use of the four-screen cinema complex known as The Waterfront, Custom House Way, Greenock. The report advised that this was the second time the applicant had omitted to renew the licence timeously.
DECIDED: That the application be granted and that it be remitted to the Director of Central Services to write to West Coast Cinemas in appropriate terms about their repeated failure to renew the licence timeously.
1113 APPLICATION FOR TAXI LICENCE: MORAG BROWN 1113
SUBMITTED: Report dated 7 October 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Licence by Morag Brown. It was noted that Mrs Brown had omitted to make timeous application for renewal of her Taxi Licence prior to its expiry on 31 August 1998.
DECIDED: That the application be granted.
1114 APPLICATION FOR TAXI LICENCE: MALCOLM BONAR 1114
SUBMITTED: Report dated 29 September 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Licence by Malcolm Bonar. The report advised that Mr Bonar had omitted to make timeous application for renewal of his Taxi Licence prior to its expiry on 31 August 1998. The Panel heard Mr Bonar in support of his application.
DECIDED: That the application be granted.
1115 CONSULTATION BY SCOTTISH OFFICE: MANDATORY LICENSING OF HOUSES 1115

OCCUPATION
SUBMITTED: Joint report by the Director of Central Services and the Chief Environmental Services Officer dated 18 September 1998 advising that a Government consultation paper had been received seeking the Council's views on Government proposals to make it mandatory for Local Authorities to license houses in multiple occupation in Scotland.
DECIDED: That the Scottish Office be advised that licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation should be at the Local Authority's discretion but, subject to this qualification, the remaining responses outlined in the report be submitted to the Scottish Office.
1116 RESOLUTION: EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS 1116
On the motion of the Convener it was agreed unanimously that, in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the undernoted items of business on the grounds that consideration of the items involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.
